About us
The Swedish Musicians’ Union, Musikerförbundet, is the union for anyone who works as a musician, artist, composer/lyricist, studio producer or stagehand.
By being a member of Musikerförbundet, you contribute to supporting our fight for better conditions in the music industry.
As a member, you not only receive personal service, support when you need it and greater security in working life, you also help create a better music industry for everyone and improve the conditions for all musicians collective.
Our services – and why you should join
1. Advice for jobs and contracts
Musikerförbundet helps you review agreements before you sign them.
2. Guidance on salary and conditions
Through Musikerförbundet you can receive guidance on compensation and advice on your working conditions.
3. Help with disputes
Sometimes problems arise, such as an organizer not paying salary or a gig being cancelled. We provide legal assistance and can collect unpaid fees as compensation for you.
4. Insurance that provides security
As a member, you receive affordable insurance benefits, several of which are included in the membership fee. You can also take out additional insurance such as instrument and business insurance.
5. Passport permit Norway
Avoid paying customs duties, deposits and taxes for import and export when you bring musical equipment to play in Norway with Musikerförbundet’s carnet pass permit.
6. Fair compensation through negotiation
Through Musikerförbundet’s collective agreements, we protect you against undermining minimum terms and conditions and you do not have to start the negotiation from scratch. We can also support you in individual negotiations.
7. Personal advice
As a member, you always have access to our Member Service for personal and free advice on everything related to your professional life in the music industry.
8. Discounts and offers
As a member of an LO affiliated union, you regularly receive discounts and offers on products and services.
9. Musicians’ own invoicing service
If you don’t have your own company but the organizer requires you to invoice, you can use AMA, the musicians’ own invoicing service. As a member, you get a discount on the service and can also get help if problems arise with the gig.
And lastly; Support your colleagues in the industry: Become a member before you need it! In addition to your own security, your membership fee also contributes to helping colleagues who need support here and now. Musikerförbundet also works actively to improve the music industry through union and cultural policy work at both national and international levels.
